Fourth US service member dies from Iran attacks

A fourth U.S. service member has died following an Iranian drone strike targeting American military positions in the Middle East, U.S. Central Command officials confirmed. The service member had been in critical condition after the initial attack but later succumbed to their injuries. Authorities said the names of the fallen will remain confidential until families are fully notified.

The strike occurred over the weekend amid rising tensions between Iran and U.S. forces in the region. Drones hit areas near key military facilities, including locations close to Erbil International Airport in Iraq, part of the U.S. presence supporting regional security and counterterrorism operations.

Defense officials reported that at least four service members sustained serious injuries, with one now confirmed dead. Emergency teams responded immediately, evacuating the wounded to secure medical facilities. The attack is among the deadliest direct assaults on U.S. personnel in the area in recent months.

Additional reports suggest other drone strikes and aerial incidents linked to the escalation. Military bases and infrastructure in Kuwait were placed on heightened alert, with surveillance systems and air defense units activated to counter potential follow-up attacks.

Images and reports from Tehran and other strategic locations indicate broader regional repercussions, though the full scale of the escalation is still being assessed. Investigations are ongoing to determine the sequence of events and evaluate further risks.

U.S. defense authorities stressed that force protection measures have been strengthened across all regional installations. Officials cautioned that the situation remains fluid, with potential for rapid developments, and highlighted growing concerns over regional stability and the safety of American personnel overseas.
