16-Year-Old’s Quick Action in River Rescue Protects Three Girls and a Police Officer

Before the car fully disappeared beneath the water, Corion Evans had already jumped in.
At just sixteen years old, he didn’t hesitate. Hearing desperate cries for help, he dove into the river and fought his way through the strong current. The water was filled with gasoline, debris, and darkness, but he kept swimming toward the voices.
The girls trapped in the water were terrified and struggling to breathe. Disoriented and exhausted, they fought to keep their heads above the surface. There was no time to wait for rescue—every second mattered.
Evans reached them and began guiding them toward the shore.
One by one, he helped them stay afloat, pulling them through the current whenever they began to sink. Despite swallowing water and battling fatigue himself, he refused to give up.
Then, when a responding police officer was pulled under by the current, Evans turned back again without hesitation.
He went back into the dangerous water to help once more.
Because of his bravery that night, four people survived.
In the most frightening moment of their lives, a teenager chose to act instead of standing by. His courage, determination, and quick decision proved that true heroism can come from the most unexpected places.
