Nobody paid much attention when a dirty golden-colored dog suddenly stepped into the middle of a busy street and refused to move out of the way of a police car. Officers honked, waved, and even tried driving around him, but the dog kept barking desperately and running back toward a nearby alley as if he was begging them to follow. Curious and slightly alarmed, the officers finally stepped out of the vehicle and chased after him through the narrow path behind an abandoned building. What they discovered there left even the toughest officers speechless — a freezing little girl wrapped in a torn blanket, barely conscious and hidden beside a pile of trash. The dog had stayed beside her for hours, refusing to leave until someone finally listened.
