Man Uses 11 Shipping Containers To Build His 2,500 Square Foot Dream House, And The Inside Looks Amazing

Will Breaux Creates 3-Story Container Home, Redefining Urban Design
On McGowen Street, designer and builder Will Breaux has brought a bold vision to life: an 11-container, three-story home that reimagines the possibilities of city living. Using repurposed shipping containers, Breaux has transformed industrial steel shells into light-filled, functional living spaces that merge durability with thoughtful design.
Each container was meticulously cut, reinforced, and outfitted, turning what was once cargo infrastructure into bedrooms, living areas, and communal spaces. Breaux says his motivation wasn’t following a trend, but asking a simple question: why should homes be fragile, wasteful, or uninspired?
Shipping containers, built to endure oceans and storms, offer structural strength, fire resistance, and a sustainable second life—keeping tons of steel out of landfills. The finished home is as practical as it is symbolic: a sustainable, unconventional residence that challenges traditional notions of livability.
Architectural critics note that Breaux’s project quietly rebels against conventional construction. In a city of brick and siding, the container home isn’t just a dwelling—it’s an invitation to rethink how design, sustainability, and creativity can converge in modern urban living.
